Watercolor, 6x8"

A fun little painting of a fictional raptor species. I had an urge to do a red-and-black colorway, and this was the result.

Wow. I love this. The red just looks so rich and fantastic. :'D I've probably asked this before [can't remember], but what brand of watercolors do you use?

Thank you! I use Winsor&Newton artist watercolors, out of tubes. For intense color like this, having tube paints really helps because you don't have to destroy your brushes to mix the pigments out of the cakes.

Omg. That is so gorgeous. I cannot make the shape of a birds head work out at all, but it looks so natural for you. :wow: And the feather coloration is just jaw dropping. So beautiful.

Ooo. :3 That's the brand I have, and I absolutely adore them. What do you use as your main working palette? I have (probably a bad set up, haha) of Naple's Yellow, New Gamboge, Cerulean Blue, Prussian Blue, Winsor Red, Alizarin Crimson, Raw Sienna, Winsor Orange, Vandyke Brown, Sap Green, Payne's Gray and Perylene Violet.

Are there any colors you recommend? I'm always looking to buy another tube, but I just stand there for a long while trying to figure out what I want. The price doesn't help either, lol.

I love how the shape and flow of the branches bring to mind a wildfire.

Absolutely beautiful use of color. The pose is done wonderfully, too. I love the style.

English doesn't borrow from other languages; English follows other languages down dark alleys, knocks them over, and sifts through their pockets for loose grammar.

Lovely work, the colors are just so beautiful and the bird itself is wonderfully detailed. What a remarkable creature it would be. :meow:
