Watercolor, 4x6"

Yikes, look at those claws! Early spring is cold, and I love the colors you see before things start growing again. Especially in damp weather, there's a lot of different colors in a winter/early spring landscape.

So I ended up using a little white watercolor in this one. Smoke/steam is fun to paint!

Also, bears are fun to draw.

Wow, what wild wonderment with white watercolored wisps! ;)

I didn't know one could say "white watercolor" instead of "gouache". Thanks for that info tidbit...

Awesome how it manages to be interesting and beautyful at the same proportion.
It's really amazing how well composed it is, how natural it feels and how good it is to watch it. Really a primorous work!

"In my wildest dream,
I saw the world in a patch flowers;
Godlike figures were subtly dancing,
Among the herds of kings and queens;
And as the dream took real,
in a progressive fantasy,
A new world spawned, in a different color."

You're welcome! I just went back and looked at the rest of these alphabet paintings--I didn't even noticed the letters at first.. yet your incorporation is just.. GAH STUNNING. Please let me soak up your watercolor skills!

Thanks!

I believe that the difference is that "white watercolor" (I do have a tube of paint labeled this way) is that the Gouache will use chalk as the white pigment, and the watercolor will use something else. When the white watercolor dries, it has a smoother texture than white gouache, which appears gritty if you look at it closely in person.

Thank you very much!

Titanium oxide or Zinc Oxide are apparently what's used in watercolor whites. And here I was, all worried that they were gouache.... :D

Thanks again! Be careful, soaking up watercolors makes your fingers pruny. And interesting colors. ;)

But I'll be fabulous. :D
