So, more selkies! The first one has a little group of them, the second sketch shows a pony-shaped puka on a little pier, courtesy of something ~Nosseren mentioned at the Strawberry festival this past weekend.
yes girls and seals, ok a............ SEAL and a HORSE!!!!!!! omg its so cute you did such a good job!!!! -- "Na dein nos agus na bris nos (neither make nor break a custom)"
When I first saw the thumbnail I did wonder whether the horse might not be another shapeshifter, though the one that came to mind in my case was the kelpie.
I love how the bottom piece shows how slight the border can be between the normal world and the hidden world of magic, and how it still has a certain magic to it even when you don't know the true identities of the two.
Speaking of faeries and such, have you read Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You? It has some beautiful illustrations of fantasy creatures even if they are the authors' re-interpretations (the one for the Phooka is quite... interesting).
It is a tie-in to The Spiderwick Chronicles, but you don't need to read them at all to appreciate it.
n n Actually, I did a little bit of research on Selkies for a role-play I was involved in. The male ones make storms, or something... Oh goodness, my memory. xD;

It's fascinating stuff.
I am glad I am not the only one who draws selkies
